Discussion Questions
1. Read for yourself our scripture reading for today, Luke 24:13-35. What stands out to you
as you read this passage?
2. On Easter Sunday two men are hurting, brokenhearted, overwhelmed, and scared. They
were followers of Jesus, but what should they do now? Jesus meets them right in the
midst of their pain and starts walking beside them. Have you ever felt like Jesus has
come alongside you during a difficult time? What was that experience like?
3. “But we had hoped that He (meaning Jesus) was the one who was going to redeem
Israel.”(v.21) We had hoped: can’t you just hear the pain in that statement? They had
hoped Jesus was going to redeem Israel, but now it seems like all hope has been lost.
Can you relate to this story? What is something you had hoped for that ultimately didn’t
happen?
4. God still cares about our hopes and dreams. I keep picturing a child sitting on their
parents’ lap. And the parent is giving 100% of their attention to that child. What do you
want to say to God? You are His beloved child, speak to Him, tell Him about how your
life has been going. What disappointments have you been living with? What fear, or
anxiety, or struggle have you been walking with? Take time to pray, He wants to listen.
