Discussion Questions

1. Today is the third week of our series, “Blessed: Everyday Thankfulness.” Being thankful is more of a lifestyle than an attitude. Practicing gratitude and thankfulness are important things, but it can be really hard to live that way if everyone around you is grumbling and focusing only on what is going wrong. It may be time to evaluate those you are spending time with; are the other people you are around making it easier or harder to practice “Everyday Thankfulness.”

2. The Bible has many things to teach us about thankfulness. Our scripture reading today is Acts 2:42-47 and is all about living in Christian community. Take time to read it for yourself. What stands out to you as you read this passage?

3. The Christian life is meant to be lived in community; we are better together. Do you agree or disagree with that statement? In the book of Acts we read about the early church and how they spent significant amounts of time together, eating together, being in each other’s houses, and praising God together. Do you think it’s easier to practice “Everyday Thankfulness” when you are around other Christians, why or why not?

4. Living a life of “Everyday Thankfulness” isn’t about faking anything. It’s not about putting on a happy face and pretending everything is going well. It’s about focusing our minds and hearts on Christ Jesus and handing over our worries and anxieties to Him. Can you tell when someone is genuine or faking it? What would it take for you to grow in your genuine thankfulness?
