Biblical Locations: The Garden
Discussion Questions
1. Read for yourself Matthew 26:36-46. What stands out to you as you read this passage?
2. In the Bible there are four important gardens. The Garden of Eden, the Garden of
Gethsemane, Jesus’ Garden Tomb, and a New Garden in Revelation 22. What do you
remember about each of these gardens and the stories surrounding them? Can you see
how these stories could weave together?
3. Adam and Eve failed their test in the Garden, and it resulted in a tragic separation from
God and a breakdown of their relationship with each other and all of creation. Adam and
Eve aren't so unique, generation after generation people continue to choose to turn from
God’s ways and seek to become kings and queens of their own lives. How have you
seen this play out in your own life?
4. In Jesus, at the Garden of Gethsemane, we see Adam and Eve’s failure reversed. Jesus
prayed, “not my will but yours be done,” a prayer that led to the cross and ultimately the
empty tomb. We now can lean on Jesus’ victory in the Garden as our victory. What
would it look like for you to consciously live in the wake of Jesus’ victory not Adam and
Eve’s failure?
