Discussion Questions:

1. Today is the second week in our Advent sermon series entitled, “The Long-Awaited Savior.” Today’s reading is three passages from the Prophet Isaiah, take time to read them for yourself. What stands out to you as you read these passages? (Isaiah 7:14-15; 9:6-7 & 40:1-5)

2. Isaiah gives promises of a coming child, “Immanuel,” who brings God’s presence into the world. How does the idea of “God with us” offer comfort in seasons of fear, uncertainty, or waiting?

3. In Isaiah 9:6–7, the Messiah is described with titles like, “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.” Which of these titles resonates most with you right now, and why?

4. Isaiah 40:1–5 promises God’s arrival both in power and tenderness, preparing the way for renewal. What “rough places” in your life needs God’s leveling and restoration today, and how can you participate in preparing the way?
