Advent Family Devotions - Day 27

Paul reminds us that we have died to ourselves if we have put our hope in Christ. And since our new life is in Jesus, sitting right beside God in Heaven on the throne, we now have meaning—purpose—and hope that we never had before. Paul spends the rest of his letter to the Colossians describing what our new glorious lives in Christ should look like. Here are just a few thoughts to ponder as you reflect upon your own life:

(5) “Don’t be controlled by your body” …

(5) “Don’t be greedy” …

(8) “Quit being angry, hateful, and evil” …

(9) “Stop lying to each other” …

(12) “…be gentle, kind, humble, meek, and patient.”

(13) “Put up with one another, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you.”

(15) “…let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts.”

(15) “And be grateful.”

(16) “Let the message about Christ completely fill your life” …

(16) “…use all your wisdom to teach and instruct one another.”

(16) “With thankful hearts, sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.”

(17) “Whatever you say or do should be done in the name of the Lord Jesus, as you give thanks to God the Father because of him (Jesus).”

Does your life reflect the life of the One who not only dwells in you, but who also sits at the right-hand side of the throne of God? Perfection will not be possible until we are completely changed into His image, but is there change happening in your life? Remember, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you have come from; if Christ lives in you, Christ is all you need to become like Him!
